Brookeside has beautifully decorated and modern rooms. A perfect place to unwind and relax. This is the ideal place for couples seeking a break away weekend. The ambience of a relaxing getaway is paramount and therefore we normally don't cater for young children (under twelve).

Brookeside Self-Catering, also with magnificent views, comprises two luxurious and fully equipped one bedroomed self-catering cottages sleeping two per cottage. These self-contained units are modern and tastefully decorated, providing an ideal option for those who prefer the flexibility of self-catering accommodation.

Accommodation

The three rooms are: Titanic, Horeb and Cherry. Each bedroom is luxurious, spacious, stylish and comfortable with own entrances and en-suite bathrooms. Cherry room offers a full bathroom and Titanic and Horeb have showers.

  • The Eastern Free State is a beautiful part of our country. We are approximately 20km from the Golden Gate, 32km from Bethlehem and close to the Lesotho border. Clarens offers river rafting, quad biking, horse riding, game farms, hiking, golf, fly fishing, ab seiling, archery and many many more activities. There are numerous art galleries, pottery shops, etc. etc. We also have a selection of excellent restaurants to pick and choose from.

    One of the many events is the Cherry Festival which takes place every year in November, National hot air balloon championships in May/June, Maluti Classic Cycle tour in October, Harley Davidson weekend in November, Surrender Hill Marathon in February, just to name but a few. Our little town is a haven for artists of all kinds and we were also the first town in South Africa to receive the ‘Proudly South African’ award.

Directions

Directions: From Johannesburg: Take the N3 to Durban. Go through the De Hoek Plaza Tollgate. Pass the Engen/Wimpy garage on your left. Cross the Vaal River. Take the Villiers/Frankfort offramp to the left R26 (Big silos on your right). At the stop street turn right towards Villiers & Frankfort. At the T-junction turn right towards Frankfort – pass Frankfort. Cross the Wilge River bridge. Turn left onto the R26 towards Reitz and Bethlehem. Continue on this road until you get to Bethlehem. Drive straight through Bethlehem (CTM on your left & Woolworths etc on your right). After approx 8km turn right towards Clarens onto the R712. From Durban: Take the N3 from Durban. Approximately 25km from Estcourt turn left onto Winterton road (Offramp 194) go through Winterton and Bergville, over Oliviershoek pass and continue past the Sterkfontein dam to the T-junction. Turn left and continue past the Qwa-Qwa turn-off through Golden Gate National park until you find the Clarens turn off . From Bloemfontein: Take the N8 from Bloemfontein, pass Ladybrand and continue straight on to Ficksburg on the R26. By– pass Ficksburg and continue on the R26 Bethlehem road for approximately 48km until you come to the first turn off to Fouriesburg and Clarens. Turn right at this junction and continue for approximately 32km until you find the Clarens turn off.
