Villiers is situated on the banks of the Vaal River on the N3 route between Gauteng and KwaZulu Natal. The town was founded by Lourens de Villiers in 1882 on the farms Pearson Valley and Grootdraai. Highly acclaimed for it’s well tended gardens, the town has won the Administrator’s floating trophy several times for the prettiest small town in the region. The summer months bring out the glorious cannas, creating a colourful spectacle which draws many a keen abserver from far and wide. With the Vaal River providing superb angling opportunities and a resort offering tourists a relaxing stay in majestic surrounding, the rustic ambience of Villiers is wonderfully enchanting.

Jim Fouche Holiday Resort

Named after a former South African president, Jim Fouche, the resort is located west of the town on the banks of the Vaal Dam. 5 km Vaal Dam waterfront covering over 142 ha. Offering boating, swimming, fishing and excellent bird watching. Country farm atmosphere with 46 rondavels, two apartments, five houses and five wooden houses. Two thousand caravan sites on the banks of the river under hundreds of trees. Ten ablution blocks. A licensed restaurant, shop, petrol, conference facility, landing strip for Micro Lights and permanent sites for caravans.
